What is an AI agent
An AI agent is given a task rather than a question. It goes and finds what it needs, produces the result, a drafted reply, a summarised file, a sorted request, and hands it over according to the rules the company has set.
The difference with an assistant comes down to initiative. An assistant waits to be spoken to, then answers. An agent takes charge of a workflow, an inbox or a queue of requests, and moves it along.
Where Intra IA stands
No agent has shipped to date. What already exists comes close: on every client message, the assistant drafts a suggested reply, which is never sent without a human; every client file has its summary, regenerated when messages come in; and the vendor relay handles an exchange with a vendor's support on its own, from the first line to the solution.
The agents will extend this work. They won't replace the assistant: one answers, the others will produce.
The IT technician
It will take a support request on a piece of business software end to end: find the answer in the documentation, guide the team member, open and track the ticket with the vendor, report back. It will extend the vendor relay that already exists.
The secretary
It will sort the inbox, answer routine emails, put meetings in the diary, take messages and chase missing documents.
The communications officer
It will prepare the journal articles, the social posts and the newsletter, drawing on the life of the company and your sector's regulatory watch. Nothing will be published without your approval.
The financial analyst
It will read the figures you give it, or the ones your software sends it, keep a dashboard and flag what's slipping: cash, budget variances, unpaid invoices.
The salesperson
It will track contacts and quotes, follow up at the right moment, and prepare each meeting with the client's history.
The customer support adviser
It will take a client or after-sales request, find the client, their history and the procedure, and move the request forward. Its replies will always be signed as automated.
The pre-sales consultant
It will answer questions coming in through your website using what you actually sell, qualify the enquiry, and bring you the ones worth a call.
The rules that will not change
An automatic answer given to a client will always be signed as automatic. That is a product principle, and the agents will be no exception.
An agent will work inside your instance, with your sources and within the permissions of the person it works for. We want you to decide what it can do on its own and what waits for a review, just as you decide today for the requests that go off to a vendor.
What we don't promise
No date. Each agent will arrive when it is ready, and this page will say so. We are not promising a figure for the gains either: that will depend on your volumes and your habits, and nobody has measured it yet.
